My name is Walter Henning. I grew up in the small town of Kings Park, Long Island, NY. While throwing for St. Anthony's High Schoo, I became a seven-time high school national champion in the hammer throw, weight throw and shot put which earned a full-scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At UNC-CH I earned all-american honors in the weight throw with a third place performance of 22.02 at the NCAA Indoor Championships which is a World Junior Record in the event. In June of 2008, I transfered to Louisiana State University after my freshman year for a new start and a better coach/program. After transferring I became the World Junior Champion in the hammer throw with an American Record throw of 76.92 with the 6k hammer. My sophomore year I earned two all-american honors and broke 70m for the first time throwing 71.90 in the 16lb hammer throw and 22.69 in the 35lb weight throw. My junior campaign was capped off with two NCAA Individual titles in the hammer throw and the weight throw. I finished with personal bests of 23.80 in the weight and 72.98 in the hammer. I am currently a 22 year old senior at LSU.
